8.0.3
- Previously if you made modifications to options for standard diagrams, these modifications would be lost when you applied a new update. This no longer happens.
- The standard waterfall diagram was always left-right. You could switch it to other orientations but it would always switch back to left-right the next time you opened a waterfall diagram. Now you can switch it to any orientation and this will be remembered.
- Some very unusual variants on image formats could cause Family Historian to crash. Now fixed.
- Family Historian can now load a wider range of variants of metadata (embedded tags) from image files.
- When loading charts created in version 7 or earlier, in some cases the layout could be handled incorrectly. Now fixed.
- If you add a link to an address record in the Media Window, there was no filter in the address record selection dialog. Now you can filter on address, place or both.
- If, in the FamilySearch workspace window, you clicked the menu option to view the FamilySearch “User Tree List”, in a web browser (a FamilySearch web page), the Family Groups web page was displayed. Now the “Manage Trees” web pages is displayed.
8.0.2.1
- Some fields in the Header record, including the copyright field, had become read-only. They are now once again editable.
- “Export to Family Historian Mobile”, on the File menu, could be slow when resizing images, and sometimes looked as though it had hung, because there was no visual indication of progress during the image-resizing stage. It is now faster and a progress bar is displayed when images are being resized.
- A problem with direct imports from the Master Genealogist, Genbox and early versions of RootsMagic, has now been fixed.
- A problem that could arise if you edited smart folders and copied a branch has been fixed.
- Fixed a problem which prevented some plugins from running correctly for users who did not have a parallel installation of FH6 or FH7.
- FamilySearch can return an error if you update a FamilySearch tree and fail to provide a reason for the update. This has been avoided by making it mandatory to supply a reason.
- The Property Box sometimes opened as a floating window in the FamilySearch workspace window, ignoring preferences requiring that it should be docked. Now fixed.
- If you select an Individual’s marriage or divorce event (or other ‘family fact’) in the facts tab of the Property Box, and clicked the blue arrow button, it should switch to showing the spouse’s record. That had stopped working. This is now fixed.
- If the name of your user tree contained an ampersand, the ampersand did not appear when the tree was listed in the tree list in the top-right of the FamilySearch window (when user tree functionality is enabled in Preferences). This has been fixed.
- Fixed a problem with diagram expansion buttons, which could display in the wrong position following an update to the records of the people displayed in the diagram.
- If you had boxes in a diagram that had been separately formatted, the formatted information could disappear following data updates. Now fixed.
- In very specific circumstances, smart folders for Individual records were not showing separate folders for given and first names. Now fixed.
- When run in the context of a record selector dialog, and also in some other contexts, running a query could cause the program to crash. Now fixed.
- When you type values into a field in the Property Box, a list of matching values will display in some cases, if ‘Autolist’ is enabled (which by default it is). The list could sometimes become detached from the field and float separately above it. The list will still appear above the field if there isn’t room for it below the field, but it will no longer appear detached from it.
- The Windows’ Smart App Control, if enabled, could display warning messages relating to Family Historian, in various circumstances. The installation has been modified to conform to the requirements of the Smart App Control, to ensure that this no longer happens.
- Corrected various errors and omissions in the Help.
