| Close Project | Closes the current project. The Project Window will be redisplayed. |
| Merge/Compare File | Open the Merge/Compare dialog to compare the current project or GEDCOM file with another project or GEDCOM file, and optionally merge the other file into the current file. Can be used either within the context of a project, or with standalone GEDCOM files. |
| Split Tree Helper | Open the Split Tree Helper dialog. The Split Tree Helper dialog provides means of deleting a large number of records in the current project/file. It is often used to split a project into two smaller projects. It can also be used for the situation in which you have made a copy of your main file (e.g. to send to someone else) and you wish to delete unwanted records from this copy. However, it can be used at any time to delete unwanted records. Use with care! |
| Validate | Check the current project/file for any internal storage errors, and optionally fix any errors found. You will be automatically prompted to validate when opening any GEDCOM file that was not created by Family Historian. |
| File Statistics | Show information about the current project. |
| Page Setup | Configure print options relating to the active window. Is only available when the Diagram Window is active. |
| Print the current diagram, report, book, query or map (if you
are viewing one of these). If not, a dialog box will direct
you to the Publishing Tools Finder. |

| Print Preview | Shows you what the output would look like if you were to print now. Available when viewing the Diagram Window, the Report Window, the Book Window, the Query Window or the Map Window. |

| Small Backup (Gedcom File Only) | Create a backup of your current GEDCOM file. By default, backups are compressed (or 'zipped'). Use the Restore command to restore previously backed up files. |
| Medium Backup (Project File and Project Data SubfolderOnly) | Creates a backup of the core files in your project folder, including amongst other things, the main data file (the GEDCOM file), and any media files stored in the project folder. Any data stored in the Public subfolder within the project folder are, however, not included. The data is backed up to a compressed ('zip') file. Use the Restore Backup command to restore previously backed up files. |
| Full Backup (Entire Project Folder) | Create a backup of the entire project folder for the current project. The data is backed up to a compressed ('zip') file. Use the Restore Backup command to restore previously backed up files. |
| Restore Backup | Restore a previously backed up file (small, medium or full). |
| Revert to Snapshot | Opens the Snapshot Manager which allows snapshots to be managed (and reverted to, if required). |
