Language Packs Dialog

The Language Packs Dialog displays a list of installed language packs.  The first column shows the name of the language in English, followed by the language id in brackets.  This is a unique identifier, made of up 3 characters or more.  The first 3 characters of a language id are the standard ISO code for the language. The Internal Name of a language pack is the name of the language as it would be in that language.  This is sometimes also called an endonym.

To learn more about language packs, see Language and Language Packs.

Plugin Caution: This is an advanced feature.  Proceed with care!   You should always take a backup of the current contents of the plugin (e.g. use copy-and-paste from the plugin editor to save the contents into a text file) before making any changes to a plugin.  Incorrect changes could easily stop the language pack from working.  If in doubt, seek advice (e.g. from the Family Historian Users group  at www.fhug.org.uk) before proceeding.

Every language pack has a plugin which controls the translations.  Click the Plugin button to view the plugin in the Plugin Editor, where it can be edited, tested and debugged.  There is extensive help and advice on writing plugins, including language pack plugins, in the Family Historian Plugin Help.  To access the Family Historian Plugin Help, open the Plugins Dialog (click 'Plugins' on the Tools menu), click the More >> button, and then click the How to Write Plugins button.
