| Parent | Create a new Individual record, or link an existing Individual record, as a parent of the currently selected person. |

| New Individual | Create a new unrelated Individual record and display their box in a diagram in the Diagram Window (so you can click-and-drag to add more relatives). |
| New Couple | Create two new unrelated Individual records and display them as the joint root in a diagram in the Diagram Window (so you can click-and-drag to add more relatives). |
| Note Record | Create a new Note record. |
| Research Note | Create a new Research Note. |
| Source/Citation ► | Options for creating a new Source record (or opening an existing Source record) in the Citation Window, with a view to creating a prepared citation. This submenu is the same submenu that is displayed when you click on the Source button on the main application toolbar. To learn more, see Source-Driven Data Entry, and also Citation Window with a Prepared Citation. |
| Repository | Create a new Repository record. Usually it is easier to create new Repository records when supplying details for Source records. |
| Document |
Create a new Media record linked to an external document file. You will be asked if you wish to copy the document into the project folder, and you are recommended to do so. The new Media record is displayed in the Media Window. |
| Pictures |
Add one or more picture files to the project. A new Media record will be created for each picture added. You will be asked if you wish to copy the picture into the project folder, and you are recommended to do so. The new Media records will be displayed in the Media Window. |
| Picture from Clipboard ► |
If you have previously copied a picture to the clipboard, you can use the Paste Copied Citation menu command to add it to the current project. A new Media record will be created for the picture which will be displayed in the Media Window. |
| OLE Object | Create a new Media record to store information about an OLE object. |
| Other Media | Create a new Media record to store information about a sound or video file, or indeed about any kind of file. For example, if you wanted to link two family tree projects together, you could 'add' the GEDCOM file from one of them into the other as an 'Other Media' object. |
