Diagram Options Dialog (aspects will vary depending on the diagram)

The Diagram Options Dialog is used to configure diagrams displayed in the Diagram Window. You can change options both before and after opening a diagram.  When you open a new diagram, at least for basic diagram types, a small window will appear prompting you to confirm the root of the diagram, and the number of generations to display.  This window has a link "more options" in the bottom right corner.  Click on this link to configure more options for the diagram before opening it.

You can also change options after opening a diagram.  To do this, click on Options on the Diagram menu.  When you make changes to options, Family Historian will update the diagram to reflect the change.

When you click OK in the Diagram Options Dialog, if Remember Options is checked (bottom-left corner of the dialog) the options are saved as default settings. The default settings are used whenever a new Diagram Window is opened using any of the 4 default diagram types (i.e. one of the 4 diagrams which have their own button on the main application toolbar).

You can edit the default settings, without affecting any open Diagram Windows, by clicking on Saved Options on the Diagrams tab of Preferences (accessible from the Tools menu).

Only the 4 default diagram types use default settings.  Other standard diagrams do not.  Nor do custom diagrams or saved charts (all accessible from the View menu).  They all have their own settings.  Consequently they are not affected if you change the default settings.

The Diagram Options Dialog has 9 tabs. These are:
