Language Packs Dialog

Language Pack Translation Tables Dialog

The Language Pack Translation Tables Dialog is used to view and edit translation tables for a given language pack.  Translations are case-sensitive.  So, for example, "Book" needs a separate translation from "book".  Translations are displayed initially in a fixed, unsorted order (i.e. not in alphabetical order).  This is so that related translations, which may not be close alphabetically, can be grouped together.  You can sort them alphabetically by clicking on a column header.  To sort them in reverse order of alphabet, press-and-hold the Alt key while clicking on a column header.  To revert to unsorted order, click on the 'Unsorted' tick box on the right-hand side.

Fields and Buttons

Translation Table There are 3 tables: Attribute ValuesPlaces and Miscellaneous. The Places table is used for place name parts - e.g. countries and cities. The Attribute Values table holds translations of attribute values (e.g. the value for the attribute Occupation, might be 'Engineer'). The Miscellaneous table holds translations for everything else - e.g. report titles, headings, labels, sentence parts, and more.
New Opens the Edit Translation Dialog in Create mode, to allow new translations to be added to the current translation table.  If you have a translation selected when you open this dialog, the new translations will be inserted immediately after it.  If you want new translations to be appended to the current translation table, unselect all items before clicking on the New button.
Move Up

This button is only enabled when 'Unsorted' is ticked, and, together with the Move Down button, allows you to control the 'unsorted' order of items.

Tip: Move Up and Move Down buttons work with multiple selection.  If you want to move a single item down below the next 20 items, it may be quicker to select all 20 items below it, and move them up once.  Also, if you want a number of items to be grouped together that currently aren't, just select each of them using non-contiguous selection (press-and-hold the Ctrl key while clicking on each item), and then press either Move Up or Move Down.  This will group them all together with the first or last selected item.

Move Down See previous.
Add Missing Attribute Values This button is only available when viewing the Attribute Values table.  It adds all attribute values in the current project, that aren't already in the Attribute Values table, to that table.  It is up to you to then provide translations for them.
Add Missing Citation Text This button is only available when viewing the Miscellaneous table.  It adds all text components of formats used to generate source citations, to the Miscellaneous table, if they aren't already there.  It is up to you to then provide translations for them.
