| Show Record Ids for all Linked Records… | Records frequently contain links to other records. If this option is checked, the record Id of the linked record is displayed, in square brackets, at the end of the record name. |
| …except Family Records | This option qualifies the previous option (if checked) by excluding Family records. It is not normally useful to see the record Ids when viewing linked Family records, and there is a risk that they may be confused with Individual records Ids. Consequently, by default, this option is checked. |

Double-clicking on the record when the Alt key is pressed will expand the record's branches. If not checked, double-clicking on a record will expand the record's branches. In that case, double-clicking on the record when the Alt key is pressed will open the Property Box to view the record. |
| Record Type Display Options | There are 10 different record types in Family Historian. Each record type, if not hidden, is assigned its own tab in the Records Window. You can specify for each record type whether you want it always to be shown, always hidden, or only shown if not empty. The Individuals record type is an exception - it is always shown. |
