Property Box: Main Tab for Header Record

This tab can be customized using the Customize Property Box dialog.  It displays some of the most important items of information relating to a project's Header record.

Although it is a global standard, the GEDCOM format used by Family Historian, was originally designed and specified by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Some of the fields and even records in GEDCOM are of significance only to members of the LDS Church. The Header record contains some fields which are primarily used when sending a GEDCOM file to the LDS Church.

The fields on this tab are:

Submitter Reference to a submitter record. A GEDCOM file may contain more than one submitter record. When a GEDCOM file is being transferred to a receiving person or system, this field is used to identify the person who sent the file.
Submission Reference to a submission record. When a GEDCOM file is being sent to the LDS Church, the Submission record (there must be only one) contains instructions and information regarding the transmission.
Language This is the Project Language (see How to Work in Different Languages).  It is important that this is specified, if the project language is not English.
Receiving System

GEDCOM specifies that when transmitting a GEDCOM file to the LDS Church, this field must contain "ANSTFILE" when submitting to Ancestral File, or "TempleReady", when submitting for temple ordinance clearance.

If the file is being transmitted to a person or organisation other than the LDS Church, it can be used to store the name of that person or organisation. If the file is not being transmitted, it should be left blank.

Copyright for this file

You can type a copyright message into this field if you wish, to protect your copyright over the data in your file - e.g. "Copyright © 2009 John Smith".  Press-and-hold the ALT key and enter 0169 on the numeric key pad to enter the © symbol (or copy and paste it from this text).

This copyright message is not used by Family Historian in any way.  If you wish to add a similar copyright message to reports, for example, you must do this yourself.

File Description This field can be used to describe the contents of the file as a whole. For example, it might describe the contents in terms of "ancestors or descendants of …" so that a recipient of the file (if any) knows what genealogical information it contains.
