| Display Language (menus, labels, etc) |
The language options currently supported by Family Historian for the menus, labels, messages, etc, within the program, are
|
|---|---|
| How to Display Language Names | Do you want a German language pack to be listed as 'German' or as 'Deutsch'? If your prefer 'German', choose 'Default'. If you prefer 'Deutsch', choose 'Untranslated'. |
| Current Project Language | Read only. Shows the current project language. The
project language is the language used for the project
content. This is specified in the Header record for the
project, using the 'Language' field. To access the header
record, click on 'Special Records' on the View menu, and choose
'Header Record'. |
| Default Output Language | This is the default language to be used for reports, diagrams,
etc. It is also the language that will be displayed in the
'Sentence' fields, in the Facts tab of the Property Box, and on
the Witnesses Window. If you choose 'Default', this means
that the default position is that output will not be
translated. Regardless of what you choose as the default
output language, you will always be able to override this for any
given report or diagram. So if a given diagram is not
producing the language output were expecting, check the 'Language'
tab within the options for that report or diagram. If there are no options available in the list, apart from 'Default', this means that you have no installed language packs. To install a language pack, click on 'Language Packs' on the Tools menu, and then choose 'Import'. You can import language packs directly from the Family Historian plugin store (which holds language packs as well as plugins). If there are language packs listed, but not the one you want, again you should check the Family Historian plugin store. If you still cannot find the language pack you want, consider writing it yourself! All the tools you need are built into Family Historian. Advice is available, if needed, from other Family Historian users (see the Community section of the Family Historian website for pointers). |
| Status Bar Language Pane | Read only. Shows how information about the current project
language and the default output language, will be displayed in the
status bar language pane, with most workspace windows. When
the active workspace is a Diagram Window, a Report Window or a
Book Window however, the status bar pane will not necessarily
match the values shown here. This is because with those
workspace windows, it is possible to override the default output
language, and specify a different output language. |
