Anyone can create a new fact set whenever they like (see Creating and Deleting Fact Sets). For example, if you are a Muslim and you wish to record events and attributes which are specifically relevant to Islam, you could define an appropriate set of events and attributes and give them all the same fact set name: ‘Islamic’ (say). When you do this you would define useful narrative templates for each fact in the set and specify other details for them. Wouldn’t it be nice if other Muslims could make use of the same fact set and share the results of your work? Well they can. All you have to do is click on Import/Export on the File menu, and then choose Export > Fact Set. You then select the appropriate fact set in the list and click on the button. Your fact set is exported as a file. You can send it to other Family Historian users you wish to share it with; or you could upload it to a website for others to download.
When others want to make use of your fact set, all they have to do is get a copy of this file, by downloading it or by any other means, and then click on Import/Export on the File menu, and choose Import > Fact Set. They select the fact set file they wish to import and click on the
button. And that’s it. From now on they can use the new fact set exactly as if they had defined it themselves. When you import a fact set, it is by default given a ranking of 1 - i.e. it has precedence over all other fact sets you already have on your computer. Fact set rankings only have any significance at all if you one or more fact sets contain facts with the same name. See Work with Fact Sets for more on this issue. If the fact names in your new fact set are all unique, you do not have to worry about fact set rankings.
