Hide duplicated family branches If checked, Family Historian will hide all duplicated family branches when the diagram is built.
Link duplicates in the diagram Display lines (usually curved ribbons) linking duplicate boxes or duplicate families.
Use Family links instead of Individual links where possible Family Historian supports 2 kinds of duplicate links: Individual links which connect actual boxes together, and Family links which connect an entire family group. It can happen that an entire family group is duplicated, and if you use Individual links only to show the duplicates, you may get a spaghetti effect. To prevent that, check this option. If checked, Family links will be used in preference to Individual links wherever possible - that is, Individual links will only be used to link Individuals where one or more of their duplicate boxes are not also part of a duplicated family group. If this option is not checked, Family links are not displayed.
Hook boxes to Family link lines By default, Family link lines have coloured ovals (or circles) at each end, near to the parents of the relevant families. The parents of the family (either or both) can also be linked to these family link lines, by additional lines (called hook lines) which attach them to the ovals.
Treat remarriage boxes as duplicates Remarriage boxes are a special kind of box that can be displayed for Individuals who have more than one spouse - it depends on the Spouse Display Options. You can link an Individual's Remarriage boxes to their 'primary' box using a choice of different line types (see Spouse Display Options). However alternatively (or even, additionally), you can also use duplicate links to connect them if you wish.
Treat Proxy boxes as duplicates Proxy boxes are special boxes that are used in 'All Relatives' diagrams to show where an ancestor fits in the context of their parents' family. Proxy boxes are always linked anyway, by normal ancestral lines, to the ancestor for whom they stand 'proxy'. But you can if you wish opt to also link them with duplicate links.
Display links as ribbons Links are normally displayed as curved lines, but they can also be displayed as ribbons if you prefer.
Line Thickness Thickness of lines. If you are not displaying links as ribbons, this will be the thickness of the link lines themselves. If you are displaying links as ribbons, this is the thickness of the ribbon edge lines.
Family Link Ribbon Width Only applicable if you are displaying Family links and if you are displaying links as ribbons. If you set this value to zero, Family links will always be displayed as single lines instead of ribbons.
Family Link Curve Controls how curvaceous Family duplicate link lines are. 100% is very curvaceous. 0% is a straight line.
Family link colours This determines how many different sets of colours (line and fill) Family Historian will use for Family duplicate links. If this option is set to 1 (the lowest allowed value), Family Historian will use the same colours for all Family duplicate links.
Family Link Oval Depth/Width Whereas Individual Links connect actual boxes together, Family Links do not connect directly to boxes as such. They connect instead to an area where there is a family group. The approximate location of the family group is shown by an oval, on the Family link line. You can specify the Width and Depth of this oval. If you want a circle, make the width equal to the depth. If you don't want an oval at all, set either the depth, or width, or both, to zero.
Individual Link Ribbon Width Only applicable if you are displaying links as ribbons. If you set this value to zero, Individual links will always be displayed as single lines instead of ribbons.
Individual Link Curve Controls how curvaceous Individual duplicate link lines are. 100% is very curvaceous. 0% is a straight line.
Individual link colours This determines how many different sets of colours (line and fill) Family Historian will use for Individual duplicate links. If this option is set to 1 (the lowest allowed value), Family Historian will use the same colours for all Individual duplicate links.
Hook Ribbon Width Only applicable if you are displaying hook lines Width of hook lines (see "Hook boxes to Family link lines" above) and if you are displaying links as ribbons. If you set this value to zero, hook lines will always be displayed as single lines instead of ribbons.
Hook Link Curve See previous. This option controls how curvaceous hook lines are. 100% is very curvaceous. 0% is a straight line.

The set of colours available for use with Individual and Family links is displayed.
