| Parent | Create a new Individual record, or link an existing Individual record, as a parent of the currently selected person. |

| Unrelated Individual | Create a new Individual record. You will usually only want to use this command to add a record for someone who isn't related to anyone else in the current project. |

| New Individual | Create a new unrelated individual record and display their box in a diagram (so you can click-and-drag to add more relatives). |
| New Couple | Create two new unrelated individual records and display them as the joint root in a diagram (so you can click-and-drag to add more relatives). |
| Shared Note | Create a new Note record. The note is displayed in the Records Window. |
| Source | Create a new Source record. Usually it is easier to create new Source records when you add a source citation (e.g. by clicking on the button in the Source pane of the Property Box). |
| Repository | Create a new Repository record. Usually it is easier to create new Repository records when supplying details for Source records. |
| Document |
Create a new Media record linked to an external document file. You will be asked if you wish to copy the document into the project folder, and you are recommended to do so. The new Media record is displayed in the Media Window. |
| Pictures |
Add one or more picture files to the project. A new Media record will be created for each picture added. You will be asked if you wish to copy the picture into the project folder, and you are recommended to do so. The new Media records will be displayed in the Media Window. |

If you have previously copied a picture to the clipboard, you can use the Paste Copied Citation menu command to add it to the current project. A new Media record will be created for the picture which will be displayed in the Media Window. |
| OLE Object | Create a Media record to store information about an OLE object. |
| Other Media | Create a Media record to store information about a sound or video file, or indeed about any kind of file. For example, if you wanted to link 2 family tree data files (that is, 2 GEDCOM files) together, you could 'add' one file into the other as an 'Other Media' object. |
