The Latitude & Longitude dialog is a helper dialog, for the Latitude & Longitude field within Place records.
Latitude and longitude is sometimes expressed as degrees, minutes and seconds, sometimes as degrees and minutes, and sometimes just as degrees. In each case, decimal values can be used in, and only in, the smallest unit used. So, for example, the following could all represent the same latitude and longitude:
When only numbers are used (no letters representing North, South, East and West), negative values are used for south and west.
You can copy and paste any of these values into the Lat./Long. field in a Place record (see Property Box: Main Tab for Place Records), and they will be recognised as the same latitude/longitude.
